Learning for the Fourth Age was delighted to deliver the SPECS project from September 2012 through to March 2014. The project was funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Silver Dreams Fund, which sought to support older people through transitions in their lives by providing innovative interventions at crucial stages of transition.
Our own external evaluation has been on the website for a while now but the summary of the evaluations of all 37 funded projects from across England have just come online. This is now available to download here: Silver Dreams Fund Final Report Summary.
L4A is delighted to have delivered such a great project that made such a difference to the lives of so many older people. Our final film is available here.
Mostly, though, we are really proud of the following figures: 199 older people supported during the project with almost 12,000 hours of volunteer time! In total, SPECS provided over a quarter of all the hours of voluntary time that went into ALL the silver dreams projects in total, which is amazing. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers for this. This shows to us the amazing benefits of providing weekly, sustained and ongoing support to the ‘older old’, or fourth agers as we like to call them.
